Recently our Chief Diversity Officer Karan was invited to the first of many Vibrant Workplace Forums at Catalyst in Belfast. The event was sold out, filled with employers who are interested in becoming Verified Vibrant Workplaces, jobseekers looking for work in organisations that are Verified, or on their journey towards Vibrancy, and other industry experts!

Craig Thompson, Founding Director of Vibrant Talent, has relaunched the Vibrant Workplace Forum with the goal of creating a community of great businesses, all deserving of the spotlight due to their commitment to their employees.

Craig spoke compellingly of the costs to businesses who frequently lose employees. In the UK, based on average salary, it is estimated to cost at least £5,000 per employee that needs to be replaced. Beyond this, there are also hidden costs to a business, such as:

  • Loss of productivity
  • Absenteeism
  • Presenteeism (a new word for me – this refers to employees who are present in work, but may have ‘checked out’ mentally and are unproductive)
  • Reputational damage
  • Customer Retention
  • Possible legal costs

Following Craig, three Verified Vibrant Workplaces spoke at the event:

Each company comes from a very different industry but are united in their cause to commit to bettering the lives of their people, and therefore bettering their business and communities. The speakers were fantastic, authentic, and told engaging stories of their Vibrant journeys.

Completing the Vibrant Workplace Accelerator

Nuvoclar talked about their layered and transparent approach to interviews and getting the balance right when finding the right employees for their roles. For them, transparency is key!

Kukoon told us about their ‘hot tub’ sessions, which gives colleagues the chance to air their frustrations and settle differences before heading home for the weekend.

Trucorp spoke of how “culture is intentional” – and I couldn’t agree more! Culture doesn’t just happen in a workplace. Every employee plays a part in driving the narrative on how successful your business will be.

Vibrant Talent, has also launched the Vibrant Workplace Accelerator, a 12 week programme which is data-driven, strategically aligned to your business and cascades accountability, fostering collaboration and communication. The aim of the programme is to review your business and see what sets you apart, where you could improve, and evidence to jobseekers that your business is a Vibrant Workplace.
